History

Now in its 17th year, the Adelaide 24 Hour Festival continues a rich history. In 2009, URSA, a fledgling business, held the inaugural Adelaide 6 Hour – only to find it grow so much that, in subsequent years, the 12 Hour and 24 Hour events added. Hundreds of runners and walkers have taken part in the Festival, with the event experiencing all kinds of weather… but always managing to foster a special kind of spirit amongst the participants.

When Ben Hockings announced the end of URSA, the demise of the Festival seemed a foregone and feared conclusion by many. To Adelaide’s great delight, it was revived by Dawn Parks, a well-respected runner and the director of a beloved local running organisation.

The event has been growing ever since – and even includes a 3 hour event!
